Your Hamilton Chocolat
Chocolat on James first opened in 2015, inspired by the wave of creative and entrepreneurial energy in the James Street North area. A local favourite and a destination among chocolate lovers (and really, who isn’t a chocolate lover?), Chocolat brings you superior chocolates with enticing flair. Owners Dan and Dale took over the shop in 2025, aiming to keep Chocolat a fixture in Hamilton’s vibrant downtown and to strengthen people and the planet through their business.
Our chocolate does good.
Eating our chocolate does good for the world. It’s true! We use Belcolade, a Belgian chocolate for professionals, formulated for great taste and texture. Through the Cacao Trace program, Belcolade designs sustainability into every step: improving the income of farmers, developing their communities, and investing in reforestation. They are also completing the world’s first carbon-neutral chocolate factory in Belgium. So the pleasure on your tongue is also making the world a better place.
Hamilton is home.
We are proud to live and make our chocolate right here in Hamilton. Dan, his daughters and partner spend a lot of time in the shop, along with other talented and committed Hamiltonian staff members. You will likely hear a thing or two about his beloved Ti-Cats too. For us, this has been a dynamic community to grow up with, and one we love being able to contribute to.
